Wilton Creek

You can paddle Wilton Creek upstream of the 401 to Lake Ontario.  I have paddled from 401 to Morven.... and it was a great spring run with 4 and 5 year olds to watch all the activity that is happening in creation in the spring.... we witnessed a red-wing black bird fight to the death and kill another male in his territory by drowning him in the river.  Activities in creation were more interesting than people driving their 4-wheelers through the river.

I returned to paddle from Violet to Highway 2 for my bicycle shuttle.  It was a nice run... watch out for electric fences across the river.

Time run: 401 to Violet: 1 hr?

Level: float though - no experience required.

Bike shuttle: 15 min

Time run: Voilet to Hwy 2 - 30 minutes

Level: Intermediate... some shallow rapids that require skill

Bike Shuttle: ~ 12 minutes

Car Shuttle: ~5 minutes

Points of Interest

Some might drive down the 401 and see Wilton Creek as a ditch.  To trace the creek back to it's headwaters, you could start in Harrowsmith and meander down through Wilton and underneath the 401 to Violet and on to Morven and to the Bay of Quinte.    This is an oxbow creek and in spring run off a nice float through to watch wildlife as you float by.

The moving water section is between Violet and Morven and can only be done with spring run off.

Locals also claim that Rainbow Trout spawn on this river.  This has not been witnessed but a point of interest as you paddle.
