Upper Salmon - Sheffield to Beaver Lake

The upper Salmon is an intermediate run, and really a full day committment.   The first run of the season, the blackflies are not yet at full appetite! There seems to be a bit of local tension with paddlers.  Do not know the background story, but we need to seek positivite relationships moving forward.

There used to be a southern put-in on Sheffield Lake, but land ownership changed and signs are clear, we need to park at Gull Creek.

It is a nice paddle through the swamp to Sheffield.  There is lots of wildlife in there.  It is a long paddle down the lake...  Not so nice for a playboat, but okay for a tripping boat.

Points of Interest

This is a half or full day run.  There is a nice picnic spot halfway down, and you can have your picnic on river right and runs some boats through a couple of times over lunch and get some pictures.... see first picture!

The "Canyon" is a force.  There is a curling wave to the right.  Some make it some don't.  Not a difficult swim... second image.

There is a waterfall towards the end, individual choice to run it, portage is on the right.
