Little Cataraqui Creek

Little Cat Creek is really the only naviatable waterway in Kingston apart from the Rideau Canal.  In spring flood you can paddle from Perth Road or Division St. through the Cataraqui Regional Conservation Area to Lake Ontario.  Recommendation is to hitch your bike to a rail at the Ambassador and take out there and peddle back to your vehicle for canoe pick up.

You might have a beaver swim under your canoe just before you paddle underneath the 401....

This route can be broken up into 4 sections:

A to B - 60 minutes

B to C - 20 minutes

C to D - 15 minutes

D to Lake Ontario..... depends on water level and wind....

With these paddle times, the longest bike commute from D back to A is about 20 minutes.

Keep your eye open for wildlife....  you could see deer, beaver, numberous ducks, geese... who knows who you will meet!

Points of Interest

The Conservation Area supports a large population of water fowl.

Paddling under the 401 is pretty fun, the contrast of old transportation and modern.

The is a lot of new development between the 401 and the train station.   A new subdivision was built in 2014 on the west side, and in 2017 land has been cleared for houses on the westside.
